Mafia Chapbook
This chapbook includes information on the mafia during its prime in the 1920’s. At first, I wanted the book to be small, and intimate, giving it a secretive nature that reflected the mantra of the mafia. As the book progressed, it grew larger margins, which made the book seem “flashy” upon approach, but remained intimate within. I played with the margins, sometimes breaking the small intimacy of the layout, to add a contemporary feel to it. The cover has a die cut with just the image of Al Capone’s distant stare. The cover also contains a texture beneath the fabric, that almost look like prison bars surrounding Capone. Where his mouth would be, a message is also revealed through touch.
