Musical Periods Posters
Using the appropriation theory, I wanted to connect two art forms to each other. I took well-known paintings and matched them to their corresponding music periods. I incorporated a musically related item in each painting. To display information, the back of the paintings are displayed beside the front of the painting with some sort of text containing information on that music period. The fonts used for the text in each poster were designed in the same time frame as the music period. The Baroque Age uses French Canon; the Classical Period uses Baskerville; the Romantic Era uses Caslon; and the Twentieth-Century uses Helvetica. Hopefully viewers can see the relations between the artwork and music of the periods.
